Rays making run of historic proportions

None of this should be happening. A bunch of kids, no matter how talented, shouldn't be able to treat seasoned veterans — champion veterans — like a rental car. That's what makes this ALCS between the Dead Sox and the Rays something you have to watch.

The amazing thing about the Rays is how little they seem to be concerned about the big stage. Obviously they're talented, but Celizic is right. They act like they've been there even though they haven't.

The development in the Rays' minor league club under the current Farm Director, Mitch Lukevics,  has been the key to the success of today's Rays.  They were named no. 1 farm team in baseball by Tops.  Maddon deserves the credit for putting together a cohesive team and keeping them level headed.  Like you said--manager of the year.  It's obvious that everyone works hand and hand to make a winning team and all on a shoestring budget.  This has the makings of  a Hollywood movie.

Mike Celizic needs to learn a little something about The Tampa Bay Rays before he writes 1 more column about the team.  The team is located in St. Petersburg, FL.  This is in Pinellas County.  Tampa is in Hillsborough County.  Many of the players live in Pinellas County if not in St. Petersburg.  St. Petersburg is often abbreviated to St. Pete which is acceptable but Tampa it is not.  You are insulting a lot of people...including the players when you say "From a Tampa perspective..." and when you say "...kids from Tampa...".  I guess since Mike C is from New York and his teams are not in the playoffs this type of thing is expected....BUT why NBC publishes this crap is beyond me.

Maybe if they were actually located in Tampa, they would have fans attend the games during the season!

Watching B.J. Upton last night running all over the outfield making tough plays look easy reminded me of Willie Mays in his prime!

No kidding. And how about that throw back to first base on the fly, after catching a ball on the warning track. Didn't double up the runner, but still, impressive.
