Manny, Dodgers re-open negotiations

Agent Scott Boras has contacted the Los Angeles Dodgers to re-open negotiations for the services of star free agent Manny Ramirez, according to a report.

Boras told the Los Angeles Times that he contacted the Dodgers on Tuesday, one day after the paper quoted Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti as saying Ramirez remained "our first choice."

Where do you think Manny Ramirez will wind up? Most of what I've read seems to point back to L.A., but it will be interesting to see how many years Ramirez will get on his new deal.

I'm sure even a hint of an offer from the Yankees would make Scott Boras very happy. :)

Whilst I think there are plenty of examples of great stats players fitting in well with teams, I think there are far more where the word 'team' is a much more common sign of success. Manny is statistically fine but he is all about himself and he's got very little class and not a whole lot of smarts - and great teams want team players with class and smarts.

I think Manny goes to a down and out team who are just looking for a hired gun. Could be LAD as they've lost a lot of punch but I wouldnt count out any team in the NL East. If they have some money to spend, he wants to come back east and I'll bet the Nats or the Braves could pick him up if they jump in soon.

The bat is a fit for a lot of teams for sure.  But I think Boras is dreaming if teams will not be thinking about his time in Boston and how and why he left.  Manny being Manny is sometimes fun, but how many times can his quads get hurt?

Boras' comments are a bunch of crap, aimed only at trying to save face.  He/they should have taken the dodgers first offer.   LA would be foolish now to re-offer the same $$$.  Teams cannot help but look at what he/they did in Boston.   How can you not fit in if you are making $20 mil/year.

I think the Dodgers would be wise to stick to a short-term offer. Ramirez will probably be better behaved and perhaps even play better if he is playing for a shorter contract.
