These super six deserve Hall of Fame nod

The only mystery left to Rickey Henderson's Hall of Fame candidacy is how close he'll come to going in unanimously.

His set of base-stealing and leadoff-hitter accomplishments makes him that much of a first-ballot lock. A 90-to-95 percent approval rate seems likely.

So that makes the story of this Hall ballot — the results of which will be announced Monday — a continuation of the quests of a handful of long-time candidates led by Bert Blyleven and Jim Rice.

Sure enough on Ricky, Bert and Tommy John, but I doubt I would vote for any of the rest of them

Henderson should without a doubt be a first year selection, but his estrangement from the press may cost him; this is where those sportswriters get even! Fisk didn't make it his first year and that snub was a personal one. If the sportswriters do not elect Blyleven, it is almost certain that he will be elected on his first try with the Veteran's Committee.

In my opinion Dawson should make it in during this election period. He is definitely a HOF caliber player, similar to Billy Williams and Dave Winfield. I have reservations about whether Rice really belongs; I do not believe Trammel, Raines, or Morris really belong  and are doubtful  for election.

The way one is picked for the Hall Of Fame is a load of crap.  Your numbers are what should determine if you get in or not.  It shouldn't come down to a person's vote.  If the numbers aren't good enough, then no entry.  If the numbers are, then entry, period.  To have people with numbers waiting for 8,9,10 years for enough people to vote yes is rediculous.

No, his numbers were not "eye popping".  He wasn't popping anything else, either.

So let me get this straight, in games where Blyleven lost or had a no decision he had a total of 0 wins?  Who would have guessed that!?  I wonder if that's true of every pitcher that ever lost a game or got a no-decision?

Also, the 2.19 ERA Blyleven had in quality starts that didn't result in a win isn't bad, but when you factor in the fact that based upon your criterion the highest ERA he could have is 3.00, it's not all that impressive either.  Every single one of the pitchers on my fantasy team this year had a lower ERA in the same situations.  It's not that hard to do when you take out all the meltdowns.
