Isn't there a statute of limitations on how long an individual can be persecuted without Trial?

Everyone knows that once Bonds stated; "Babe Ruth couldn't carry his jock strap", White America was coming after him if the opportunity arose. And passing him on the all time home run list, didn't help. So 6yrs later isn't it eveident what's happening???

With the government's creation of so-called evidence and relentless pressure on questionable witnesses to provide testimony against Bonds, it would be virtually naive to argue that Bonds has a chance to convince a pre-conditioned jury to judge him based on the truth. I strongly believe that Bonds has already been proven guilty; he simply has not yet been lynched. I hope, for the sake of justice, he still has a chance to prove his innocence to the brain-washed jury.

Ditto. Bonds is gone from the game. Never make the hall, and more than likely will go to jail for being a liar. Nobody cares for this guy anymore. Tough being constantly lied too by these rich crybabies.

Hopefully the arrogant smile will also leave his face.

What is there to gain out of this exhibition of a trial? Everyone in baseball during that era including the commissioner are all guilty of condoning the use of steroids, they all turned a blind eye. Using Bonds a scape goat is deplorable. Even now what is the penalty for using steroids in baseball…a few days off! Give me a break.

I hope he fails, and then they should rip him from the record books, take his money for frauding fans, and completley expel any chances he had at the Hall of Fame. People should look back and have no idea who Bond was, except that he was one of the biggest liar and cheats ever in MLB history.

The government has no business in ball players using steroids, period.  I don't want my good taxpayer money being used for something as frivolous as this.  If a law was broken, fine, arrest those who did break the law but let it end there.  The government has no business helping baseball cleaning up their image.  Arrrest a few players for using something potentially illegal and throw their sorry butts in jail and then you will see baseball clean up their act.  Baseball created this problem, baseball should fix it on their own, not with my tax money.  Let the public decide; people will stop paying for tickets, and stop tuning in to ballgames.  Advertising dollars will go away and high profile players will lose their sweet endorsement deals.  Then, and only then, will you see steroid use fall off and players voluntarily getting tested.  By that point baseball may be no more relevant then pro wrestling is to real athletes.  But hey, they did this to themselves

I don't really have a problem with performance enhancing drugs, as long as it's not dangerous to the person using them. Goodness, something as simple as a good diet is performance enhancing.

Anywho, he didn't want to tarnish his image by taking the fifth and thought he could get away with it. Now he's tarnished his image and is facing charges for perjury.

Innocent until proven guilty. I have not seen any "evidence" of his "knowing" participation. The US attorney will need to prove his "knowing" participation beyond a reasonable doubt to prove that Bonds committed perjury. Did he use steroids? I think most likely. Did he know what he was being injected/rubbed with? I think most likely - but can the Feds prove it? I am not so sure.

Exactly! Rose is basically excommunicated from the game he excelled at, and for what?? Gambling! And, there was absolutely no evidence whatsoever that his betting had any outcome on games. Gambling didn't help him acquire all these records.

Now, if nothing is done to Bonds as far as his baseball accomplishments and records go, if and when he is found guilty of perjury, then there is no justice in this world. Steroids have a definite and direct impact on sporting events. Without illegal and immoral help from banned substances, Bonds would NEVER have hit as many home runs as he did. He says steroids didn't improve the way he saw the ball on the way to the plate, and he's right. Where he's wrong is the fact that, due to his artificially-enhanced bat speed and power, he was then able to turn a probable single or double into a home run.

The unfortunate part of this whole steroids flap is that we've only just begun to identify all the players that have used banned substances. Next will be Clemens, then Sosa, then A-Rod, then Pujolz....we won't be able to look at the modern records again without thinking how they may have been tainted by steroids.

Sad, but you gotta admit it's true!

Barry Bonds should be exonerated and cleared of all FALSE AND UNPROVABLE ALLEGATIONS.

As a prospective juror-should there be a jury trial-I have reaosnable doubt.

The US Attorney will have ginormous difficulty in proving "lying" as a federal crime.

In fact, the  alleged "evidence" may not even be admissible or admitted.

Besides, he has several affirmnative defenses as well to deny -he did plead not guilty.

Assuming arguendo, that he is convicted, his sentence could be probation and

his attorney's should appeal  his case.
